These are what my class plans should look like...Inspirtation...
"The sun never says to the earth, ‘You owe me.’ Look what happens with a love like that. It lights up the whole sky." ~ Hafiz
I have 4 hours of dance class tomorrow afternoon. Most looking forward to an inro to Flamenco! eeiiikkk.

i remind myself of this regularly...

"So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun."

When practiced consistently, patiently, and well, yoga makes you feel good.

Meditation - A Basic Technique.

Many people give up on meditation because of 'failures' to shut down their thoughts. The thing is, as long as you are trying, then you cannot fail.

Instead of aiming for a blank mind think of meditation as your stillness time, focus on breathing in and out and see where your mind takes you. Observe your own thoughts and then aim to find the stillness within them

I found this basic guide recently, written by Alice Grist , and its quiet similar to what i often do. It sometimes works for me so i thought i would share it with you...

A Basic Meditation
Start by sitting comfortably somewhere that allows you to have a straight back. Cross-legged is great but not necessary. A chair, bed, mat, your garden or the toilet cubicles at work are all acceptable places.

Close your eyes and prepare your mind to relax, get a feel for your body and how it is. Aim to relax all your muscles one by one. Search your joints for tension and when you find it, release it.
Stay in this place for a while, focus on your breath. Allow your thoughts to bubble up, but be sure not to linger on them. By concentrating on the breath you will help to dispel the mental machinations that will inevitably try to distract you.

When you are ready imagine yourself in a place where you feel safe and loved...

Amazing! The Maijishan Grottoes are a series of 194 caves cut in the side of the hill of Majishan in Tianshui, Gansu Province, northwest China. This example of rock cut architecture contains over 7,200 Buddhist sculptures and over 1,000 square meters of murals.

Finding Space

When we practice yoga we are learning to find space.

There are actions we can make during asana practice that create space in the body - space for the body to function to its optimal level - and there are those that don't, in most cases if you collapse or compress you make things tighter. Sometimes the line between these two actions is a fine one.

Give yourself the time your body needs to experiment with what works for you.

Anna Di Prospero - With You

Anna di Prospero is an Italian photographer who has been working on a self-portrait series called With You, where she appears alongside family members and friends. I like the idea of a self portrait being more about those important and close to you.

All images belong to Anna Di Prospero.
