Physical Thinking

"We are all experts in 'physical thinking', we all have a body right, and we all know what that body feels like in the real world..."

Rewilding

George Monbiot imagines a wilder world in which humans work to restore the complex, lost natural food chains that once surrounded us. If you like this the I highly recommend getting hold of a copy of his book Feral.
There are certainly links to be made with 'rewilding' and the way we move and experience our own bodies too...time to start learning from our mistakes.

There is always hope.

Play is more then just fun

Stuart Brown is a psychologist who has devoted decades to studying play and applying its benefits to both personal therapy and business optimization. He’s one of the few experts who has focused his study on the role of play throughout the life cycle. Over his career, he’s studied play in a host of cultures and historical times, and he’s compared the play patterns of children and adults in both human and various animal species. He calls play a “profound biological process” and presents evidence that play continually shapes the human brain throughout our lifetime.

I AM ENOUGH.

Brené Brown: The power of vulnerability

 "Brené Brown studies human connection -- our ability to empathize, belong, love. In a poignant, funny talk, she shares a deep insight from her research, one that sent her on a personal quest to know herself as well as to understand humanity."

A talk to share, so here it is...She is an inspiring lady!
"...We 'perfect', most dangerously, our children. Let me tell you what we think about children;
They're hard wired for struggle from the moment they get here and when you hold those perfect little babies in your hands our job is not to say 'Look at her! She's perfect! my job is just to keep her perfect and to make sure she makes the tennis team by 5th grade and Yale by 7th grade.'
Our job is to say 'you know what, you are imperfect and you are wired for struggle.' To love with our whole hearts, even though there is no guarantee. And that is really hard, I can tell you as a parent that it is excruciatingly difficult. To practice gratitude and lean into joy in those moments of terror when we are wondering 'can I love you this much, can I believe in this so passionately, can I be this fierce about this?' Just to beable to stop and say 'I'm so grateful because to feel this vulnerable means that i am alive.' And the last, which i think is the most important, is to believe that we are enough. Because when we work from a place that says 'I believe I am enough' then we stop screaming and start listening, we are kinder and gentler to the people around us and we are kinder and gentler to ourselves."

--  Brené Brown

I would love to see a generation of kids raised like this!!!
