Yoga Opinions...

Just read this article: You Don't Need to Meditate by J. Brown on Yoga Dork
Mr Brown makes some interesting points! If you have a moment take a look.

Meditation is a description of what happens as a consequence of healthy choices, not a prescription for bringing them about. When we have an intimate relationship with our actual lives, it simply occurs. Stop meditating. Learn to take pleasure in a regular practice that soothes the system and the rest is coming.

Moon Landings

My return was sweet, my home refound, but my thoughts were filled only with grief at having lost her, and my eyes gazed at the moon, forever beyond my reach, as I sought her. And I saw her. She was there where I had left her, lying on a beach directly over our heads, and she said nothing. She was the color of the Moon; she held the harp at her side and moved one hand now and then in slow arpeggios. I could distinguish the shape of her bosom, her arms, her thighs, just as I remembered them now, just as now, when the moon has become that flat, remote circle, I still look for her as soon as the first sliver appears in the sky, and the more it waxes, the more clearly I imagine I can see her, her or something of her, but only her, in a hundred, a thousand different vistas, she who makes the Moon the Moon and, whenever she is full, sets the dogs to howling all night long, and me with them.
Italo Calvino, 'The Distance of the Moon,' translated by William Weaver.

Brené Brown: The power of vulnerability

 "Brené Brown studies human connection -- our ability to empathize, belong, love. In a poignant, funny talk, she shares a deep insight from her research, one that sent her on a personal quest to know herself as well as to understand humanity."

A talk to share, so here it is...She is an inspiring lady!
"...We 'perfect', most dangerously, our children. Let me tell you what we think about children;
They're hard wired for struggle from the moment they get here and when you hold those perfect little babies in your hands our job is not to say 'Look at her! She's perfect! my job is just to keep her perfect and to make sure she makes the tennis team by 5th grade and Yale by 7th grade.'
Our job is to say 'you know what, you are imperfect and you are wired for struggle.' To love with our whole hearts, even though there is no guarantee. And that is really hard, I can tell you as a parent that it is excruciatingly difficult. To practice gratitude and lean into joy in those moments of terror when we are wondering 'can I love you this much, can I believe in this so passionately, can I be this fierce about this?' Just to beable to stop and say 'I'm so grateful because to feel this vulnerable means that i am alive.' And the last, which i think is the most important, is to believe that we are enough. Because when we work from a place that says 'I believe I am enough' then we stop screaming and start listening, we are kinder and gentler to the people around us and we are kinder and gentler to ourselves."

I would love to see a generation of kids raised like this!!!
