Workshops

I recently attended a Workshop entitled The Principles of Yoga Practice run by Chole Fremantle and Pete Backaby. They both have a very intelligent approach to the practice of posture and breath and i highly recommend a session/workshop with both or either if you are looking for something different.

Chole Fremantle began Yoga in 1978 in Italy with Sandra Sabatini and Diane Long, and then, from 1982-2002 in London with Mary Stewart. Chloe describes her key Yoga influence as Mary Stewart,
who in turn was influenced by Iyengar and Vanda Scaravelli.

Pete Blackaby trained and qualified as an Iyengar teacher in 1986, but changed direction after meeting John Stirk at the Osteopathic College he trained at. John Stirk introduced Pete to his teacher at the time, Mary Stewart who became a major influence. Pete's yoga practice and teaching were initially very influenced by the anatomy learned while training to be an osteopath. His teaching maintains a strong interest in anatomy, but also an interest in the broader context of yoga in the west. Particularly the psychology and philosophy of humanistic yoga.
