Perfect?


This image did the rounds on twitter last week with plenty of comparison with the current female body ideals. It's taken from Time magazines definition of a perfect body in 1955. 

She's gorgeous, but really?!? Can we stop now with the idea that there is a 'perfect body' or a body that represents 'real women'. There shouldn't really be a definition at all, should there?

  1. But most of the images in your blog are of a certain body type and look that is prevalent in the media.

    1. That's true, I use what I find (or take/make myself) and I really like images of dance/movement from the first half of the 19th century so they definitely fit a certain look. However I'm posting them for the dance/yoga/movement not for the body type and have never said that there is an ideal or that what I post is what is best, which is my point in this post. I don't think there should be one body type that is held up as perfect. We are all perfect.
